Session: Reconciling Data with Decision-making
BASF expert David Green joins Robert Bates, Kelly Scanlon and Erin McDade to present Reconciling Data with Decision-making
Abstract:
Life cycle assessment is a powerful tool for the methodical evaluation of complex systems and their associated impact. To drive analysis and improvement what data do we need? What lessons on LCA can the design community learn from the manufacturing sector? How can we interpret LCA data to create measurably better buildings?

In Focus: A close look at Basotect
Basotect® is a flexible, open cell foam made from melamine resin, a thermoset polymer. Its high sound absorption capacity and reliable fire characteristics without the addition of flame-proofing agents make Basotect® suitable for sound insulation in buildings, air conditioning equipment, and ventilation systems.
BASF's specialty foam BASOTECT® was used in the swimming stadium site for the 2008 Olympics Games inBeijing in order to clad the interior of the building with flame-retardant and environmentally friendly acoustic insulation.
